The industrial and logistics sector provides a diverse range of jobs. St Modwen actively support initiatives to improve skills, training and employment opportunities. Indeed, St. Modwen Logistics is the latest partner to join the NSCG-led consortium of education providers and employers from across the Midlands to form the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Institute of Technology (IoT) development.

By allocating additional employment land the Council would support sustainable economic growth, facilitate access to training and employment opportunities, and deliver significant socio-economic benefits. This would in turn respond positively to the opportunities provided
within the district, notably the accessibility of the Strategic Road Network, which is extremely beneficial for Industrial and Logistics occupiers and logistics companies in particular.

Bloor Homes is committed to doing its part to help to resolve the well documented national housing crisis, and in doing so recognises that addressing the construction skills shortage is of critical importance. Bloor Homes as a
company has committed to the Home Building Skills Pledge, and in doing so have or are putting in place several initiatives on a business wide basis.
Whilst Bloor Homes recognises the importance of providing employment and skills initiatives that will impact on directly on the local areas in which they develop, the limitations arising as a result of the business model employed by Bloor Homes and all of the other major housebuilders should also be taken into account. As a result, it is unrealistic to expect students near a given development site looking for management and back-office work experience to travel to the regional office, which could be up to 50 miles away. In addition, due to the subcontracting of the majority of the trades on any given site, such an ESP may not be able to provide any measurable evidence on local job creation or provide
certainty in respect of inclusive growth.
